A 14-year-old stopped his bike and got her home safely
Royal Cothrun, 14, was riding his bike through Gilbert, Arizona, in triple-digit heat when he spotted a woman wandering alone on a sidewalk. Teresa Morgan, 75, had gone grocery shopping and gotten disoriented, wandering miles from home. She had recently been diagnosed with dementia. Cothrun could have kept riding. Instead he stopped. "I don't even know, she just looked like something was wrong, so I started talking to her," he told ABC 15 Arizona. He guided Morgan to shade, noticing she was sweating, then helped her recall her son Jeff's phone number and called him from his own phone. Jeff Morgan raced over, and paramedics followed to check on his mother. He was wearing Google Glasses the whole time, which quietly recorded the rescue. His mom said she was proud but not surprised. Gilbert Fire Department captain Ryan McHugh put it plainly: "The outcome could have been, would have been much, much worse had he not done what he did."
