A barber found $128,514 and called the police
The bag was just sitting there. He made one call.
A man who stopped at a Texas ATM found a bag stuffed with $128,514 sitting on top of the machine and called the police instead of walking away with it. The incident happened in Lewisville, where the man, who identified himself only as a local barber, first carried the bag next door to a Chick-fil-A to ask whether the cash belonged to the restaurant. It did not. When an officer arrived, he handed over the money and 19 checks without hesitation. Investigators traced it to Bank of America and a Brinks technician who had been told to take the cash after repairing the ATM, then appears to have left it on the roof like a coffee cup. At the station, officers double counted the haul and ran it through a currency counter. Not a dollar was missing. The Lewisville Police Department wants to honor the man. He agreed, so long as the ceremony stays private.
