A mother, two kids, and the guard who shielded them
He saw the car coming. He walked toward it.
A school crossing guard in Las Vegas stepped in front of a car traveling 35 miles per hour in a school zone last week, shielding a mother and her two children as they crossed. Richard Jones walked calmly into the middle of the intersection outside Pinecrest Academy St. Rose and put up his stop sign. The driver slowed down. Dash cam video captured by Jake Garcia showed the whole thing. Kae'la Leon Guerrero, the mother, played the footage for Jones afterward and gave him a high-five. "If that cross guard didn't jump in front of that car, something bad would have definitely happened," she told Fox 5. She said she has lost count of how many times she has thanked him, and that her kids thank him every day. Jones was less impressed with himself. "Honestly, I just try to do the job the best way I can," he said.
