A stranger paid lunch for 27 people, then vanished
He finished his meal, then noticed who else had walked in.
A stranger paid the entire $420 lunch bill for 27 people from a disabled community group in Incheon, South Korea, then left without giving a name. The party, staff and residents from the Jemulpo-gu Hanmaum Community Welfare Center, had spent the morning seeing the sights at Cheongna Lake Park before stopping at a barbecue restaurant in the city's Seohae district. An anonymous diner who had just finished eating quietly added more than $100 of premium beef to their order, pushing the bill to 600,000 won, and covered all of it. "It was disappointing that we could not even learn the name of the person who did this," said Kim, a volunteer with the center. The stranger reportedly said they had wanted to do something meaningful and had been living in Hawaii. The restaurant owner, who had already discounted the bill, worked out what was happening in time to hand the diner a bottle of wine on the way out.
