He joined a street act to win her back. It worked.
Kate Latkovic, 25, shared the story of how her parents met, and the internet has decided it belongs in theaters. Tom and Kim were backpacking separately through Europe in the mid-'90s when they crossed paths one night, hit it off, and woke up the next morning with no phones, no email, and no way to find each other again. They were headed to different cities. Tom refused to leave it there. He found a street performer in the busiest square he could locate and volunteered as part of the act, betting that being impossible to miss might bring Kim back. It did. She found him, and they finished the trip together. During those days, Tom told Kim he could already picture her old and gray, surrounded by grandkids. She said she felt the same. One of Tom's friends wrote in his travel journal, "Ten bucks Tom marries her." Six months later they got engaged. Twenty-seven years on, the journal entry hangs framed in their home.
