Neighbors and a FedEx driver lifted a car off her

A group of neighbors and a FedEx driver lifted a Volkswagen Beetle off a woman pinned beneath it after her e-bike crashed on Route 420 in Prospect Park, Pennsylvania, on August 31, 2026. Christine Vollmer spotted the woman's legs sticking out from under the car and called 911. Amelia Cannon heard the scream first. "I just ran outside and tried to lift up the car by myself, and then other neighbors came out," she said. Karl Wise, mid-delivery for Vollmer, put the package down and joined in. "Picked up the Volkswagen Beetle on its side and drug the woman out, and I told her, 'Don't move,'" he recalled. She was taken to a hospital with chest injuries and is in stable condition. Police Chief Dave Madonna noted the rescuers had no equipment and no training, just their hands. Cannon shrugged off the word hero. "I just helped someone in need."
