One finger, one typewriter, a million letters, one Wimbledon scene

James Cook typed more than a million letters and symbols onto a single scene of Wimbledon's centre court, using only his right index finger. The 29-year-old artist, who works from a studio in Canning Town, East London, spent six weeks and roughly 378 hours on the piece, feeding the paper through a 1932 Smith Premier typewriter dozens of times. It has been viewed over 8 million times online. Cook first picked up a typewriter at 17 for a school project, tracking one down after an older couple overheard his dad asking a shopkeeper and offered him their 1950 Oliver Courier. He now owns around 100 machines, most sent by fans. The Wimbledon scene depicts Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, with hidden jokes throughout. His favorite is a woman on a ladder trying to sneak a look at the match because she could not get a ticket. Neither could Cook, which is why he drew it.
