Salah and Van Dijk surprised their six-year-old superfan at school

Liverpool, England ยท 7 September 2026

He knew every player's name. Two of them showed up anyway.

Liverpool footballers Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk walked into a six-year-old superfan's school with a surprise the boy did not see coming. Isaac, who was born with Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, a rare genetic disorder, is among the club's most devoted supporters. He goes to school, works hard, and knows every player's name without being told. "I'm looking for someone who is a big, big Liverpool fan and he loves to play the guitar," van Dijk said. "I think his name is Isaac?" Isaac raised his hand. Weeks later he served as an official mascot at Anfield, walking out with the team ahead of the United Nations' International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The match was against Manchester City. Liverpool won 2-0. The story reached beyond the usual fans. "As a United fan, I never thought I'd find myself on Liverpool's page," one person wrote. "But this is just beautiful, respect."
