Two deputies pulled him from the flames, then saved his breath
Out of the car was the easy part. Then he stopped breathing.
Two Snohomish County sheriff's deputies pulled a man from a burning car near Arlington last month, then restarted his breathing with CPR when his heart gave out. The sheriff's office released body camera footage Monday of the Oct. 14 rescue, which began after a car crashed into a wooded area in unincorporated Snohomish County and caught fire. Deputies reached the man and dragged him clear. Then he stopped breathing. They started chest compressions and kept at it until he was breathing again, which happened before medics arrived to take him to a hospital. The man's condition and the cause of the crash were not available. It was a busy day for this particular emergency. Hours later in Puyallup, two bystanders pulled a driver from a small SUV that had hit a tree and caught fire. Police said that driver was highly intoxicated, and survived anyway.
