A $5 estate sale find became a guide to one woman's life

New York, New York ยท 29 June 2026

Mari Huang, 31, had just moved to New York from Ohio when she paid $5 for a vintage business card holder at an Upper East Side estate sale. It belonged to a woman who died in 2024 at 79, and it was packed with cards from independent bookstores, bakeries, and the kind of niche shops a person collects over a long life. Huang began visiting them and filming the trips for TikTok, calling the series "Rolodex Recs." She nicknamed the late owner "Peach." The stops include Orwashers, a bakery open since 1916, and Fabulous Fanny's, an eyewear shop. Peach also kept gratitude lists, one of which thanked "air to breathe, water to drink and swim in, money I have to give, family and sex." Huang says the project taught her something practical. "I think it taught me to take my AirPods out when I'm shopping and talk to people."
