A 9-inch corgi keeps 1,200 sheep in line

Daphne, a 7-year-old Welsh corgi who stands 9 inches from paw to shoulder, has spent the past five years helping move 1,200 sheep on a farm in Cumbria, England. She works behind the flock, barking on command to keep the sheep headed the right way, alongside a team of border collies named Silver, Roxy, Molly, and Panda. "Nowadays people don't think of corgis working on farms because of the Royals," owner Heather Hodgson told SWNS, noting the breed was originally bred to herd. "They are high-energy, very intelligent, and full of character." Hodgson received Daphne as a Christmas present from her husband, Bertie, in 2018. The dog is calm about 90 percent of the time, and thoroughly delighted the other 10 percent. One drawback of working so close to the ground: in muddy season, she needs frequent showers. Off the clock, she rides the farm quadbike and eats steak fat.
