The firefighters who saved him showed up for cake
They documented his medical needs. Four days later, they came back.
Graham Stockwell turned four this week, and he spent the day with the Florence, Kentucky firefighters who kept him alive long enough to get there. He was born four months early, weighing one pound and nine ounces, with less than a 10% chance to survive. He came home after a year and a day in the hospital, on a ventilator and with a tracheostomy. Florence firefighters had visited through Cincinnati Children's Hospital's Heroes Program, which flags medically complex kids to local departments. Four days later, Graham's parents were giving him CPR. "Within two to three minutes, Florence Fire and EMS are right on our backs," his father, Carl Stockwell, said. On Thursday the same crew showed up for cake. The family had expected to look at some fire trucks and go home. Graham, who wears a fire truck outfit around the house, now has one birthday wish. He wants to be a firefighter.
