Firefighters gave the trapped dog oxygen. He ran back to his owner.

Spokane Valley firefighters arrived at a parking lot last week to find a car engulfed in flames, and something moving in the back seat. A dog was trapped inside, trying to escape the smoke, while his owner and friends shopped in the grocery store, unaware the vehicle was burning. Crews put out the fire and pulled the dog free. He was in rough shape when they reached him. "He was in rough shape, with melted whiskers and clearly needing some help. So our firefighters gave him oxygen and some much-needed TLC," the Spokane Valley Fire Department wrote. More oxygen, more time, and the dog got back on his feet. He ran around the lot and found his owner. The department posted photos of the reunion alongside the charred car. "A scary morning ended with the best possible outcome: a family back together. That's why we do what we do," they wrote.
