Off-duty officers pulled the driver out before the flames
The car was a rental. The strangers were off duty.
A 22-year-old driver escaped a burning Lamborghini on Saturday evening after off-duty law enforcement officers who happened to be nearby pulled them from the wreck. The car crashed into a fuel pump at a Shell station on Highway 41 A in Cedar Hill, Tennessee, shortly after leaving the Austin Peay State University homecoming parade. According to a preliminary report, the Lamborghini struck a GMC Sierra, accelerated into the station lot, hit a curb and slammed into the pump. "Some off-duty law enforcement agents happened to be in the area, saw the crash and pulled the driver from the vehicle before it was consumed by the fire," said Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department Lt. Drew Akin. The driver walked away with minor injuries. The car was completely destroyed, and the station's fuel canopy melted in the heat. The Lamborghini, it turned out, was a rental, borrowed for the parade.
