Ten days after the fireworks, Fig came home.

An Australian shepherd named Fig bolted during her family's Fourth of July celebration in Tulare County, spooked by fireworks, and vanished for 10 days. Her owner, Kattie Cassaday, filed a report with the sheriff's department, drove for miles, and papered the area with flyers. "I felt like, she's out there. I know she's out there if I could just find her," she told ABC News. Sergeant Ricky Morley worked the tip that eventually led to whoever had found the dog. Bodycam footage shows him pulling up to Cassaday, and then Fig leaping out of his cruiser. "I've been doing this for about 20 years and just to have a good story with a happy ending, that's worth it right there," Morley said. Cassaday had trusted him from the start. "As soon as I talked to Sergeant Morley, I just knew this person is gonna find my dog," she said.
