Ten minutes into his first walk, Ollie struck gold

A puppy named Ollie dug up 15 gold sovereign coins ten minutes into his first family walk in Blackpool, England, unearthing what a gold dealer later valued at £5,943.96, roughly $7,564. Adam Clark and Kim McGuire bought Ollie in 2022 as a surprise for their daughter, Alicia. The surprise ran both ways. Ollie is a Lagotto Romagnolo, an Italian breed built to hunt truffles by scent and inclined to dig for a living. The coins, thought to date to the 19th century, checked out as legitimate. It is unclear what the family paid for the dog, though the math now leans firmly in their favor. Clark seemed more taken with the digger than the gold. "The treasure is one thing, but the fact is, I've bought myself my very own gold hunter, and I cannot wait to take him out again," he told The U.S. Sun. He plans to keep walking the same park.
