Three bikers rode past, then stopped for the bleeding cyclist

Scotland ยท 10 September 2026

No signal. No cars. Then three engines slowed.

A photojournalist crashed his bicycle into a boulder on a remote road in Scotland, leaving him bleeding, injured and without cell service to call for help. Three motorcyclists rode past, and then they stopped. They tended to his injuries and stayed with him on a road where he had no way to reach anyone. It is the kind of place where you can wait a long time for a car, and longer still for one that slows down. These three did. The photojournalist, whose job is usually to document other people's moments, ended up on the receiving end of one.
