A Cleveland DJ flipped the record. Tequila hit number one.

The Champs' 1958 hit "Tequila" began as a throwaway. Saxophonist Danny Flores, who later went by Chuck Rio, was working as a studio musician on another instrumental called "Train to Nowhere" when the single needed a B-side. With a little recording time left, Flores started playing a ditty he liked to use on breaks during club dates. The other players joined in. Someone suggested he shout "Tequila," a nod to his affinity for the drink. They finished in three takes and left without listening back. A Cleveland DJ flipped the record and played the B-side instead. "Tequila" hit the top of the charts in three weeks and won a Grammy in 1959. Flores kept playing it for 40 years. "I can honestly tell you he never got tired of playing that song," said his wife of 33 years, Sharee. The band, by the way, was named after Gene Autry's horse.
