The kitten who used her extra toes to pick Tiffany

A polydactyl kitten with oversized paws and extra toes had already passed through at least four homes before her first birthday. Then, at a PetSmart adoption event four years ago, she grabbed onto Tiffany's long hair, which is one way a cat makes a case for herself. Tiffany, who lived in Murray, Utah, and had spent six months living alone, took the eleven-month-old blue-gray cat home. Because polydactyl cats are sometimes called boxing cats, she named her Moe, after Muhammad Ali. The adjustment was real. Moe opened cupboards and drawers with her paws, forcing a round of baby-proofing, and arrived with separation anxiety from her earlier homes. She now sees a chiropractor and is doing much better. Today she plays fetch with mini tennis balls, sits for treats, and half the time thinks she is a dog. Tiffany has promised her a home for the rest of her life, no matter what.
